the Military. General Edwards in

he believed it to be the
intention

the Battalions of Infantry mentioned in Appendix A to the despatch, a native battalion of
Madrasses.
As I did not wish to in
any way deceive the unofficial Members in
agreeing
to

compromise
in the matter I told them,
